A simple overview of the four parts of Medicare.

Medicare Part A


Helps cover inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing facility care, hospice care, and certain home health services.

Medicare Part B


Helps cover doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, durable medical equipment, and many medically necessary services.

Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage)


An alternative way to receive your Medicare benefits through private insurance companies approved by Medicare. Plans vary by location and may include additional benefits beyond Original Medicare.

Medicare Part D


Helps cover the cost of prescription medications. Plan formularies, covered medications, and costs vary by plan.
